RADAR CHART POWER (RC-POWER) ® is an index that quantifies a radar chart. The more well-balanced high scores a radar chart has, the greater the RC-POWER calculated from the size and shape of the radar chart.
A radar chart shows the ratings on the same scale axes so that you can immediately get the balance and overall characteristics of the ratings through the size and shape of the radar chart.
The feature of radar charts allows us to show the characteristics of products or services in an easy-to-understand manner. We often see radar charts on multiple items regarding products or services.
For example, many washing machines might have a radar chart showing scores for washing power, quietness, function, shape, and ease of use. Each radar chart shows the characteristics of the product. If you try to select the product whose radar chart is the largest and best balanced by looking at radar charts one after the other, the selection must be difficult. It is because you will be confused with judgment on the size and shape of radar charts on the way.
We have developed RC-POWER, which can be selected and judged objectively with radar charts showing the characteristics at a glance.
The characteristics to grasp by looking at the radar chart are the size and distortion of the polygon connecting the data. Consider the power of a radar chart with this magnitude and distortion, and suppose that a radar chart with a balanced high score has strong power. You can know the quality of the score and balance by the size of the power. This power is quantified from the size and distortion of the polygon on the radar chart as the RC-POWER indicator on the radar chart.
RC-POWER
Digest
- RC-POWER is an index of power that indicates whether the radar chart has well-balanced high scores.
Features of the RC-POWER
1. The more balanced and higher the scores a radar chart has, the greater the RC-POWER is.
2. The RC-POWER is consistent with our visual judgment of whether the radar chart has well-balanced high scores.
3. The RC-POWER is calculated as a percentage of the perfect radar chart where all items have perfect scores.
Let’s ask for RC-POWER
- There is no limit to the number of items in a radar chart for which RC-POWER is determined, but RC-POWER can be determined here for a 5-item radar chart. For commercial use, please contact us.
- RC-POWER 5 provides the power for radar charts with five items. You are welcome to try the RC-POWER 5 for non-commercial use only, download here.
- Please check the characteristics of RC-POWER. We hope that you will use RC-POWER to make choices and decisions based on radar charts.

- In the case of calculating the power on radar charts with more than five items.
- In the case of calculating the power by weighting particular items.
- In this case to select a product similar to your favorite one by comparing the radar charts of the performance evaluation. The power can calculate the similarity between radar charts.
- The shape of a radar chart changes depending on the axis on which items are placed, and the power also changes. However, you can calculate the power that is independent of item placement.
References
The power calculates features derived from the shape and size of a radar chart by using the area of the radar chart created by the score of each item. It is calculated as a percentage of the radar chart where all items have perfect scores.
The power had been devised in studies evaluating the dose-dependent pharmacological effects of anticancer drugs. Please refer to Knowing the whole from multiple perspectives for more information on this process.
